I know this post is quite a bit old but for the gillies here's where I go....

* Joe Pool (around the Cedar Hill State Park crappie house)

* Mill Creek in Canton (heck that's where I grew up!)

* Walnut Creek ... this comes out of the south end of Joe Pool and goes back towards Mansfield ... just walk the creek line and catch away!

* Tom Field Park (Farmers Branch) ... there a creek that runs from this park and goes all the way under I-35E and then under 635 ... you can walk all along this spot and catch TONS!!! I go to this park many times during the week and practice my fly casting and really enjoy the catching action. They aren't huge but catch a limit each day and you've got an excellent fish fry!!!

And check out my recipe for an interesting and delicious way to cook up those gillies!!!
