The Big Blue

This is what I am planning on doing on Amistad in a couple of weeks. The water should be in the 50s or high 40s so the bass will still be shallow somewhat. I will be working the Yellow magic for at least 3 hours first thing in the morning. If it warms up or the sun is shinning I will go deep like 40 to 70 feet deep with my trusty Lowrance and a D/S. I want to get better at suspending fish and catching them. I will also spend some time useing the spoon and see if I can make some of them arches on the Lowrance bite. I want to use the jig deep to learn it also.

I know where the fish are and how to catch them but I want to make this trip into a test all my baits and ways to catch them. I will post some pics of the baits I plan on useing lateer next week.

No john i don't think so.. but from the looks of it would be a killer bait.. i am going to pull out the stops to see if i cant get off work to go with matt to amistad.. have your spear worms been tested there yet.. if not matt be your man!!

I bet they will work in 60+ foot of water. If you want to see if they work I'll try them and get pics. This is the best time to try new stuff down south..

A few months ago I bought a new swim bait. It is a Reaction stike hand made jointed hard bodied with a rubber screw on tail swim bait. This thing looks like a talopia. I normaly would not have bought a swim bait like this but this one is very different from most. It does have a price tag of $30 but it is well worth it. On most baits I have to change the hooks but this one comes with some good sharp hooks. I think the higher end baits are starting to come with better hooks because of all the complaints from everyone. I'll post a pic later..

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] What I look for in a talopia type bait for down south is the strips on the side and how dark they are. The bait I have is the bull bream which is a little darker and more strips or it may have been just painted differently than the others because I can't find a pic of it on their website.
